Humans are the cause of all dangers to walruses. They kill walruses in many ways. The walruses dangers are oil spills, climate change/global warming, hunting, pollution and of course their predators.

Oil spills

Oil spills are a danger to the walruses by filling the ocean that they live in with oil. It makes them stuck so they can’t move from their location. This is harmful because they can’t go to a different place and to have a break.

Climate Change/ Global Warming

The climate change or global warming is affecting the Food chain. Algae are at the start of the food chain. That grows by heat and oxygen. Climate change will ruin the whole food chain for the walruses because the oceans will have too much Carbon Dioxide.

Pollution

The way pollution affects walruses is that a lot of rubbish gets thrown into the ocean and seas and the walruses might think it is fish and they’d eat it and choke to death.

Hunting

The walrus was once endangered because it was hunted for its ivory.  This has now been made illegal and conservation groups are trying to protect the walrus.  It is still sometimes hunted for its hide but the walrus is no longer considered an endangered species.
